    Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: September 16, 2026

MyEpisodeTime is designed to work without an account. If you use it as a guest, your saved shows and watch progress stay in your browser. If you create an account, we process the information needed to sync your library and provide the features you choose.

    1. Who we are

MyEpisodeTime is an independent TV planning service available at myepisodetime.com. For the personal information described in this policy, MyEpisodeTime is the data controller unless stated otherwise.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to hello@myepisodetime.com.

    2. Scope

This policy applies when you use the MyEpisodeTime website, create an account, save or track shows, submit a data report, or enable notifications. It does not govern third-party websites or services that you visit through a link from MyEpisodeTime.

    3. Information we collect

When you use MyEpisodeTime without an account

Your saved shows, watch progress, planning preferences, activity history, and recently viewed shows are stored locally in your browser. We do not receive that locally stored library unless you later sign in and choose to sync it, or you send information to us through another feature.

    When you create an account

We collect your email address and password. Passwords are stored only in hashed form. We also store the library data you sync, including saved and removed shows, watched episode identifiers, watch progress, planning preferences, activity history, and relevant update timestamps.

When you contact us or report incorrect data

We collect the details you submit, which may include the show or episode involved, the type of issue, your comment, an optional email address, and a technical snapshot relevant to the report.

    When you enable notifications

We store your notification choices, timezone, delivery status, and—if you enable browser push notifications—the subscription endpoint and encryption keys supplied by your browser. Email notifications use the email address associated with your account.

    Technical information

Like most online services, our hosting and security systems may process your IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referring page, and error or security events. We use this information to deliver the service, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.

    4. How and why we use information

    Provide the service

To create and secure your account, sync your library, calculate watch plans, remember preferences, and deliver requested features.

Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.

    Operate and improve

To maintain reliability, troubleshoot errors, understand feature performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect users and the service.

Legal basis: our legitimate interests in operating a safe and useful service.

    Send notifications

To send release reminders, digests, or other alerts that you enable. You can change these choices or unsubscribe at any time.

Legal basis: your consent, where consent is required, or performance of a feature you requested.

    Meet legal obligations

To respond to lawful requests, enforce our rights, keep required records, and comply with applicable law.

Legal basis: legal obligation or our legitimate interests in establishing and defending legal claims.

We do not use your information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects through solely automated processing.

    5. Cookies and local browser storage

MyEpisodeTime uses strictly necessary session and security cookies to keep accounts signed in, protect forms, and maintain the service. We also use local browser storage for guest libraries, preferences, recently viewed shows, and limited interface state.

We do not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. You can remove guest data by clearing MyEpisodeTime’s site data in your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent sign-in and other account features from working.

    6. When we share information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose information only as needed in these circumstances:

    • Service providers. Hosting, infrastructure, email, and push-notification providers may process limited information on our behalf under appropriate contractual and security obligations.
    • TV and trailer data providers. We retrieve public TV metadata from TVMaze and may retrieve trailer results from YouTube. Search requests are made by our server where supported. If you open an external source or load third-party content, that provider receives information directly from your browser and its own privacy policy applies.
    • Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights and safety, or investigate abuse.
    • Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

    7. How long we keep information

    • Guest library data remains in your browser until you remove it or clear site data.
    • Account and synced library data is kept while your account is active and for the limited period reasonably necessary afterward to complete deletion, maintain backups, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
    • Password-reset tokens expire after 60 minutes.
    • Push subscriptions are kept until you disable push notifications, the subscription becomes invalid, or the related account is deleted.
    • Reports, delivery records, and technical logs are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the issue, maintain security and reliability, and satisfy applicable recordkeeping requirements.

When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it. Copies may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups rotate.

    8. International data transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable law requires it, we use recognised transfer mechanisms and safeguards, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

    9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, including transport encryption, hashed passwords, access controls, request validation, rate limiting, and data minimisation. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so we encourage you to use a unique password and protect access to your device and email account.

    10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of your personal information; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Residents of California may also have rights to know, correct, and delete personal information and to receive equal service when exercising privacy rights. MyEpisodeTime does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

To exercise a right, email hello@myepisodetime.com. Please describe your request and the email address connected to your account. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; we would appreciate the chance to address your concern first.

    11. Children’s privacy

MyEpisodeTime is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for valid consent, a parent or guardian must authorise the child’s use of account features. Contact us if you believe a child provided personal information improperly.

    12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service, our providers, or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy here and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use account information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
